Access protection with a password

Updated on 10.07.2026

If you don't want to show your platform publicly yet, you can protect it with a shared password. Visitors then first see a lock screen and must enter the password before they see the site.

Set a password

Open Moderation → Settings → Access protection, enter a password and save. From now on, the site is only reachable with this password.

Share the password

Pass the password on to the people who should have access — for example your team or a test group. Anyone with the password can open the site.

Remove the protection again

If you want to make the platform public, just clear the password field and save. After that, the site is reachable without a password.

FAQ

Where do I set the password?

Under Moderation → Settings → Access protection. There you set it or change it at any time.

Is the password stored securely?

Yes. It's stored exclusively as a hash; the plain-text password is never kept.

Does the password replace users signing in?

No. It's an upstream lock for the whole site. To join in — submitting, voting, commenting — users still sign in.
