School development

School development (Schulentwicklung) is the planned process by which a school systematically develops teaching, organisation and community.

School development covers three fields: teaching development, organisational development and staff development. It succeeds best when everyone involved takes part — pupils, parents and staff bring different perspectives.

Participation is not an add-on but a success factor: those who help shape change support it. A low-barrier place where ideas are collected and prioritised makes school development transparent and involves the whole school community.
